Self-Publishing with Ellen O’Shea

Navigating the new era of self-publishing for artists and writers.

Ellen has been creating highly illustrated Children’s Books for ten years using the Amazon KDP and Ingram Sparks publishing platform.

She creates her books in Adobe Indesign and MS WORD with expert help in scanning, modifying and publishing her intricate watercolors using other Adobe software.

Ellen does not use Artificial Intelligence software. Her art is rendered first by pencil and sketching, then by water color, watercolor pencils and pen and ink. Finally she scans her art on a flatbed scanner. She uses the pen and wash technique to apply watercolor. There is much detail and she has learned by trial and error and with help of self-publish guru J Bruce Jones as her mentor, to process her art to be visually pleasing.

Ellen has learned the ins and outs of self publishing including book design, project management, marketing, and copy right and royalty management.

She has learned about uploading books to both Amazon KDP and Ingram Sparks in their ever-changing self-publishing platform. Her ability to manage large publishing projects and meet timelines has allowed her to create 6 Children’s books with plans for three more books in the coming two years.

Ellen will be holding a series of workshops on Self-publishing for visual artists. She will include information on creating visual novels, Children’s books and other publications.

Participants will receive a copy of Ellen’s How to self-publish illustrated publications.
